Whats the Story?
I painted this as an image of a Black man in meditation—a man carrying battles both within his mind and out in the world. His crown, bejeweled and dripping in gold, represents the weight he bears… the burdens on his shoulders.
And yet, even with his head bowed… he still shines.
Mortal Man speaks to the truth that we are all here to die—to be born again, die again, and be reborn. It’s the cycle of life, the rhythm of mortality. But the real journey… is spiritual.
