What’s the Story?
“By the Water” was born during the time of my father’s transition. I’d been pushing myself hard—working, battling grief—and with my birthday approaching, all I knew was… I needed to be near water.
So, I planned a last-minute trip to Miami.
There’s not much more to say—this painting came after two darker, heavier pieces. It felt like a shift. A brighter release.
The trip itself was both relaxing and stressful—LOL—because, truthfully, my body wasn’t letting go of much at the time. But sometimes, just showing up for yourself is enough.
