Midnight Gospel (Reimagined)
30 × 24
What’s the Story?
Another show I loved—and felt compelled to paint—was The Midnight Gospel. Created by Pendleton Ward (Adventure Time) and comedian Duncan Trussell, the series follows Clancy, a spacecaster who travels through psychedelic, multiverse realms to interview beings for his spacecast. I discovered the show in 2019, during a time of deep personal revelation. I was moving through a series of endings—deaths, both literal and symbolic—and beginning to tap more fully into my spirituality and emerging gifts.
My first version of this painting was a portrait of Clancy, the show’s main character. But as I grew more confident in my style, I felt called to add more—to go beyond a direct depiction and infuse the piece with my own evolving perspective. Maybe I did too much... or maybe it was exactly what it needed to be.
